It was indeed good fortune that Peter Boulware, 2001 Super Bowl Champion from the great Baltimore Ravens team, is the second guest of the Sports Stories video podcast. I suppose being one of the directors of the AAU Beach Volleyball National events put me in the right place, considering Peter and his wife Kensy’s daughter, Jordan, partnered with Ashley Pater to win both the AAU Girls Junior National Beach Volleyball Championships and the AAU West Coast Junior Olympic Games. It was generous of Peter to sit down and share his story; I suppose his family could wait for him in worse places than on the sands of Hermosa Beach, CA where we recorded the interview in our host hotel, The Beach House.
Peter Boulware played middle linebacker on the 2000 Ravens, which allowed an average of 9.4 points over 16 regular season games and four playoff games. The Ravens dismantled the New York Giants 34-7 in the 2001 Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida. Boulware’s defensive teammates Ray Lewis and Rod Woodson went on to be enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
After injuries cut short a 9-year NFL career, Boulware and his family returned to Tallahassee, where he starred in college at Florida State. He and his wife started a charter school, and he’s a part-owner of a Toyota dealership. In his spare time, he coaches his kids in youth sports, including his daughter Jordan.
