ORLANDO, Fla. (May 25, 2023) --

Late May marks the beginning of storm season in Florida, but at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex the sky won’t be the only thing bringing the thunder.

For nearly 30 years, May has concluded with AAU basketball and this year is no exception as a surge of more than 3,800 athletes and 700 coaches are set to descend upon Orlando for the 2023 AAU Basketball Memorial Day Classic.

Three hundred and forty-one teams will take the court across the three-day tournament, vying for an AAU Championship belt.  Eleven states are represented within the field, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Texas and Virginia, along with squads from Canada and Puerto Rico.

Competitive divisions are grouped by age, with athletes spanning eight to 19 years old. On the boys’ side, trophies will be awarded in 12 age/grade level divisions, including 9U up to 20U. For the girls, winners will come from seven grade-level classifications, ranging from sixth grade to varsity. All first and second place finishers will earn AAU medals and a trophy.

East Coast United 2027 Navy, Manhasset All Stars 2029, and Team Jordan 13U are among the returning champions that will look to defend their titles against the fiercest fields yet. The full list of teams and the schedule can be found here, or via the AAU Basketball mobile app.

The top four finishers in each high school (15U/9th, 16U/10th, 17U/11th, 20U/12th) age/grade division will receive a seeding recognition into the 2023 AAU Boys & Girls Basketball World Championships.

All games will be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, comprised of the AdventHealth Arena (8 courts) , the State Farm Field House (6 courts), and the Athletic Center (6 courts).

Pool play is slated to tip-off at 8:50 in the morning on Saturday, May 27 and will continue through the end of the day on Sunday. All championship games will be played on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.  The final games of pool play are scheduled for 9:50 p.m. on each of the first two days, while the last championship games are timed to tip-off at 5:20 p.m. Monday evening.

This year, the AAU Memorial Day Classic is also a 2023 Official Qualifier to the USA Basketball 2023 U.S. Open Basketball Championships, and the home of the 2023 Men’s and Women’s European Exposure Combine.

The USA Basketball qualifier serves as the pathway for 9th and 10th grade teams to earn their qualifying bid. The championships will be held at the NCAA College Basketball Academy this year. For more information, click here.

The AAU Men’s and Women’s Basketball European Exposure Combine is an opportunity for athletes to compete in front of professional basketball coaches from around the world. Presented by USA Select Basketball, athletes will show their skills through drills, and live games, as well as hear from some of the top coaches overseas. For more information, click here.

If you cannot make it to Florida and want to keep up with the fast paced, non-stop action, all games will be streaming live on BallerTV.
