RECAP: 2021 AAU Basketball Memorial Day Classic

Approximately 3,000 athletes participated in the four-day AAU Basketball Memorial Day Classic that took place May 28-31 at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and Game Point Events Center in Orlando, Florida.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Approximately 3,000 athletes participated in the four-day AAU Basketball Memorial Day Classic that took place May 28-31 at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and Game Point Events Center in Orlando, Florida.
It’s been a month since the last AAU Spring Basketball tournament in Central Florida, and the athletes and coaches came ready to play. Teams from across the U.S. and its territories battled for first place with 172 boys and 41 girls teams (213 total) competing for a championship crown.
Bluestar Orlando Vega went undefeated throughout the tournament to take first in the Girls’ 6th Grade division.
In a neck-and-neck battle for the Girls’ 7th Grade championship, the Blue Heat Hughes won 42-41 to get the win over the previously undefeated Lady United.
FL – Scholastic Sports, Inc—Team Impact swept the competition through pool play and playoffs to win first in the Girls’ 8th Grade division.
Two undefeated teams faced off for the title in the Girls’ 9th Grade division. In a defense-driven game, Nona Basketball Academy 2024 Black managed to outscore the TNT Shockers-Girls.
The underdog Wellington Wolves 2023 won out over undefeated CFU 1Family in the 10th Grade Girls’ championship.
In another close game, the Nona Basketball Academy Varsity squeezed out a win 59-57 over the Lady Chargers Rivers Beach Travel Basketball.
JBL Elite ran away with the 2nd Grade/9U division after a 37-17 win over the Manhasset All Stars – 9U, going undefeated throughout the tournament.
In a top-seeded battle, the second place FG – Miami Hoops outlasted first place Showstoppers 2030 to win the 3rd Grade/10U division.
Fuego battled their way back from third place to take the win in the 4th Grade championship.
Boricua Dynasty kept their winning streak alive to win the 11U division and go undefeated for the tournament.
It was a shootout for the 5th Grade D1 championship, but Florida Flight Elite 5G took the lead and ran with it to win 62-41 over Team Jordan.
Georgia Ignites 2028 5th Grade blew away the competition 58-27 to win the 5th Grade division.
Team Dynasty claimed the win over Boricua Dynasty 67-37 for the 12U D2/D3 championship.
In a close game, Boricua Dynasty Red beat out BCA 45-40 to win the 12U/6th D3 division.
Scoring 50+ points per game throughout the tournament, the Florida Nets were able to go undefeated throughout the tournament to take the 6th Grade D1 division.
After losing their first game in the tournament, the Wellington Wolves came back to win it all and take the 6th Grade D2 division.
In a back-and-forth battle, the JMJ Drip managed to take the game lead going into the fourth period. They kept their lead to win the 13U D2/D3 championship 60-58 against Thunder Select 2026.
In a runaway game, the Boricua Dynasty outplayed their opponent to win the 13U D1/7th D3 division 86-35.
Two undefeated teams faced off to see who would win the 7th D1/D2 division. FL – OTE Nightrydas came out on top, beating BBD 7th 64-52.
Thunder Supreme 2025 battled with the Manhasset All Stars for the 14U D2/D3 championship and came out on top, beating Manhasset 54-34.
BCA claimed a double-digit win against the Florida Kings 2025, winning 70-57 for the 8th Grade D1 championship.
It was a close game between the Jupiter Jaguars and the Triple Double Tarheels, but the Jaguars solidified their lead in the fourth period to win the 8th Grade championship 61-56.
The 8th Grade D3 championship was another nail-biter as PBA Orange had to hold their 56-54 lead against Wellington Wolves 8 Blue to win the division.
The Jupiter Jaguars bested the 2021 15UB/9th Florida Comets to win the 9th D2 division 52-45.
Second place Holy Community Church played top seed Georgia Ignites 2024 in the 9th Grade D3 championship. Holy Community managed to come out on top, winning 61-51.
Castle Athletics NYC was 3-0 in pool play before taking a 70-52 victory against Mayaguez PR LJJB to win the 9th D1/10th D3 division.
It was a tight game for the 10th Grade D1 championship, but the FG – Lake Worth Pride came out victorious over FG – Wellington Wolves Gold 50-51.
The 10th Grade D2 championship game was toe-to-toe between Triple Double Tarheels 10th and the South Florida Stings, but the Tarheels won in the end 47-45.
Winning 62-54, Team Huncho beat the North Atlanta Orangemen 62-54 for the 11th Grade D1 championship.
ECU-The Academy clinched the 11th Grade D2 championship with a 53-50 win over the NLPB Big Cats.
In a competitive game, Chobee Nation secured the 11th Grade D3 division with a 42-40 win over GA – SPB.
In a high-scoring game, the Lake Worth Pride managed to run away with the lead to beat W5 80-65.
