Felix Rogers served the youth of the Maryland AAU District for more than 30 years.

PIKESVILLE, Md. -   It is with heavy hearts that the AAU announces the passing of longtime AAU volunteer Felix Rogers of the Maryland AAU District.

A track and field coach and meet director, Felix dedicated his life in service to America’s youth athletes.

Since the 1980’s, Felix oversaw the Randallstown Track Club, along with Assistant Coach Kelvin Taylor. According to the club website, “Randallstown Track Club teaches life skills along with academic and athletic development using track and field as the teaching tool. We stress continuous improvement, by using goals and performance measurement. We teach our kids focus, concentration, perseverance, along with other life skills, through instruction of Track and Field technique and strategies.”

Felix took his role of training youth track athletes seriously. He spent considerable time and energy to obtain certification as a USATF-certified Level I and Level II lead Instructor in sprints as well as hurdle and jumps and was pursuing a Level III.  He was also a Baltimore County Public School-certified track coach.

Others took notice of Felix’s drive and dedication. In 2006, he was elected as District Director for Maryland AAU Track & Field, a position he had held since.

For his continued dedication and immense contributions to Maryland area youth athletes, Felix was honored in 2018 with the Volunteer of the Year Award and the National AAU Volunteer of the Year Award for the Maryland District AAU.

The award was created to recognize those outstanding volunteers whose unselfish and dedicated service to their sport, the district and overall organization of the AAU, has made a significant difference and impact to America’s youth athletes.

Felix had a passion for teaching, molding, and inspiring athletes to be great not only in sports, but also in life.  The Maryland AAU District, as well as AAU Track and Field, AAU National Leadership and the rest of the AAU, sends our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the Rogers family during this time.

The AAU has lost not only a great leader, but a mentor, role model, and friend.  He will be greatly missed.

Funeral or memorial arrangements are unknown at this time.  Updates will be posted to the Maryland AAU web site once more information becomes available.
