New Millennium Chess Will Be Hosted by AAU

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is licensing and hosting New Millennium Chess, a prize-rich new online and mobile gaming platform whose development team includes world famous Grandmaster Susan Polgar.

Polgar is teaming with chess innovator Michael Propper in the new platform that keeps all the game’s strategy and jettisons everything that can make it hard to play and like. New Millennium Chess’ website, newmillenniumchess.org, delivers updates about the development of the platform, which launches Dec. 15.

New Millennium Chess builds on the Play N Stay platform developed by Propper’s Chess NYC operation. “Play N Stay format demonstrated all the possibilities of online chess to let students have fun and learn the game at the same time,” Propper says. “With New Millennium Chess we’ll take that approach to another level and a nationwide audience.

New Millennium and AAU Chess cast aside three things that can make chess off-putting:
●      It’s too slow. New Millennium matches take no more than 20 minutes a side.
●      It has too many ties. New Millennium eliminates draws via a tiebreaker, the Shootout.
●      It’s hard to learn. New Millennium allows beginners to take a few quick lessons and quickly compete for the same prizes more experienced players do.

“A great thing about the platform is that all players earn the same points for wins or losses, with novice and stronger players having the same shot at prizes,” Propper says. “More importantly, the equalizing format rewards competing and improving. Annual prizes will include cash, trips, electronics and more.”
