ORLANDO, FL – The Amateur Athletic Union announced last year the shift of the AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championship 18U and International divisions to Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-27. The move-in dates allows more college-bound high school seniors the opportunity to compete for one more club championship before reporting to their respective collegiate programs.

The successful venture has approximately 81 teams, 1000 athletes, registered to compete on these new dates. The competition will be split into four divisions: 18 Open, 18 Premier, 18 Club and 18 Classic. Teams range from 20 different states, including Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and Canada.

Players will utilize 14 courts at the award-winning Orlando County Convention Center (OCCC) over the three-day tournament.  Pool play will begin Saturday, May 25 and continue on Sunday, May 26. Single elimination bracket play will start on Monday, May 27 with awards presented after the championship games.

Check in will begin at 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24 in the North Concourse of the OCCC. All games will air live on BallerTV.com, and a list of event schedules are available at www.aauvolleyball.org.

AAU Volleyball also will host the inaugural AAU Girls' 18U Junior National Volleyball Championships Banquet at the Rosen Centre Hotel on Friday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be presented for players and coaches completing their final season.

For the third year in a row, AAU is partnering with the Side-Out Foundation as an official Dig Pick Dig-A-Thon location to raise money for breast cancer research. For each dig teams perform, it supports Side-Out's research to add precious time to the lives of those living with stage IV breast cancer. Team can register here. Friends, family and fans can make pledges and donations to the teams specified page and start helping the teams hit their goal. The top fundraising team will be rewarded with a free entry to next year's AAU Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships. The winning team will be announced by the end of June.
All participants are encouraged to wear pink for AAU's Dig Pink Day, May 26.
